A Word of Thanks from the Bramans

We express our heartfelt thanks to all who have offered their love and support to Lauren over the past six months.  The responses to events such as the bone marrow drive, the silent auction, the Spring for Lauren, the omelet brunch, hat days, the sweet sixteen birthday party, the Laps for Lauren team and other expressions of support were overwhelming.  Countless cards, flowers, phone calls, e-mails and visits to the hospital and home further expressed your ongoing love and support.

We were also thankful for our family, friends, neighbors, church and coworkers who stood by our side and assisted in the caring of Kory and Kelsey and the maintenance of our home and Ken's practice.  This made it possible for Ken and Cristine to be at Lauren's side nearly continuously during her illness.

And mostly, we thank God, for blessing us with such a wonderful, beautiful daughter and giving us the opportunity to share her with you.  Lauren had touched so many of us, in so many different ways.

We rejoice in her victory and in her life, now eternal.  Thanks be to God.

With Love,
Ken, Cristine, Kory and Kelsey Braman

S T U D E N T  DANCE

250 polite, well-behaved high school students attended this function on April 22, which raised more then $2700.00 for the Lauren Audrey Braman Benevolent Fund.  Organizers were excited that the "Guest of Honor" herself was well enough to celebrate her "Sweet 16" partying and dancing with friends!

Thanks to the generosity of 11 businesses and thirty adults, the event was ALL PROFIT.  Corporate donations came from Copley Community Fund/Veterans of Foreign War Post #7971, Hiss Bakery, United States Postal Service-Copley Branch employees, Top's Grocery Store, Copley Professional Firefighters, East of Chicago Pizza, Regina's Pizza, Beach Boyz DJ Service, Val Mark Securities, Copley-Fairlawn City Schools Food Service staff, and Laser Quest, Montrose. Staff from Copley High School were instrumental as well.

The event was planned by the Youth Committee members of Healthy Communities Healthy Youth Copley-Fairlawn and was such a "hit" that hosting additional teen dances is being considered.

Lauren was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) with the Philadelphia chromosome attached on January 25, 2006.  Lauren passed away July 31, 2006.

We shall never forget her glorious smile.

The music you hear is "Sarah Beth" by Rascal Flatts, a favorite band of Lauren's.  Click here to read the lyrics.

Leukemia patient, 15, needs donor
By Jewell Cardwell

Family and friends of 15-year-old Lauren Braman don't care how you get there, just that you get to the massive bone marrow donor registry drive in her honor from noon to 4 p.m. March 12, at Copley High School, where she is a sophomore.
This week, however, Lauren is not in the classroom. She's in the intensive care unit at Akron Children's Hospital, where she is being treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, also known as ALL.
She desperately needs a bone marrow transplant.
Lauren -- who is the daughter of Dr. Kenneth and Cristine Braman -- is a member of the National Honor Society and the Key Club. She's active in the school bands (jazz, marching, pep and concert), Fairlawn Lutheran Church youth group and the Dancing Wheels in Cleveland.
The more folks who sign up to be bone marrow donors, the better Lauren Braman's chance for a match.
To help her and others whose only chance at life is a bone marrow transplant, please plan to go to the school to give a small blood sample, which will be tissue typed.
Registrants must be between 18 and 61, in good general health and available if identified as a match for a patient in need.
Cost is $25 to be tested.
For questions about the bone marrow drive, call Lorraine Signore at 330-864-2882. But get there if you can.
